Thanks Abbie. I’ve developed numerous programs for various corporate and/or personal purposes hence know a little bit, and am happy to share toward an already promising tool, on things to look out for, such as best practices, error-trapping, fool-proof and user-friendly interfaces, etc.

A Potential Clue to the Programme’s Developer(s) toward resolving the seemingly catastrophic failure I started this thread of posts with: ZERO matches from the Primary, i.e. main file repository, i.e. C:/ Drive:

For starters, that particular problem, has occurred not just one but reappeared several times.

However, it may not be as ‘Catastrophic’ as it at first seemed…

I have kept the programme (and my PC) running (24/7), simply hoping to finally see it display its promised Green Tick status. (I am still waiting, three weeks and counting.) In doing so, on occasion when I come back to my PC, the programme continues to display oscillating ‘files-being-processing‘ indicator bars in the top right of its window, but is unresponsive to mouse and keyboard inputs. I therefore have little choice but to do a forced shutdown using Task Manager, then re-launch the GUI.

With that initial (re-launch) window, the problem repeats: text-searches ONLY return matching files from the drives other than the C:/Drive.

However, if I open a new window (not even by re-launching a second time but merely via File > New Search), entering the very same search-text instead yields – as expected (by users) and as intended (by the programme’s developers) – a complete set of matching files, i.e. includes ALL match-files from ALL drives, including the C:/ Drive.

Therefore, the problem appears to equate to being along the lines of holding onto residual cache from the previous launch instance, not clearing/refreshing for a new launch instance, and, evidently, may be able to be rectified similarly…

SUGGESTION 10: Simply: Ensure that a ‘New Search’ is launched whenever the GUI is re-launched.

(That said, i.e. although I am suggesting re-launches with, in effect, a brand NEW Search/Window, I would still wish to see one thing carried-over from the previous launch instance – since it may be a useful reminder or to, or context for, users – the text entered into the search field in the previous launch instance.)
