v1.3.1260 (non-OCR) running with administrative privileges, Win 11 Pro.

On Windows startup I usually but not always see the dialogue appear on the desktop:

    “Warning

    Search engine started successfully.

But some files are being scanned and your search results may not be

complete. Please be aware that, it means all scanning is completed when

the upper right corner turns into green [checkmark]”

I assume that dialogue comes from the search service which begins on start up.

Then if I start Anytxt by clicking on its icon, sometimes it starts normally and stays up. Sometimes it starts but almost immediately does a quick exit, vanishing with no user intervention. If that happens if I look at the index files I see that some or all of them have been deleted and are back to zero bytes.

If I start Anytxt by clicking on its icon again, it usually starts up and stays up. Sometimes I have to manually start indexing. And of course I have to wait for to reindex all of my files which takes quite a while since I have a lot of files.

The intermittent deletion of my data files and the necessity for a complete reindexing is not new but the quick exit on start up of any text is new in the last few versions. Is this is designed?

It would be much nicer if any text did not delete the index files without user intervention and did not force a complete reindex without the user making a choice. In any case the quick exit is quite disconcerting.

    Thank you

Today I saw the search engine has started dialog on Windows logon. Then I had to start AnyTxt five times before it would stay up. The first four times it crashed while displaying the “starting search engine” message.

Since the search engine was already started, why did AnyTxt keep trying to restart it and fail?

This seems like a serious bug.

    I am still running V 1.3.1260 (non-OCR) on Windows 11 pro.
